I have one more sleep until I’m OFF again… it was funny coz I was telling some of our Year 3 students that I was off and one of them go:
Student: Wait, didn’t you go to Brisbane for the last holidays?
Me: Yeah *smile*
Student: And you’re going to Thailand before these holidays?
Me: Yeah *bigger smile*
Student: Oh, well where are you going next holidays??
Me: You never can tell! LoL.. Just keep going with your education e hoa!
So, here I am again getting ready to leave our beautiful Āotearoa…
IF you didn’t know, I have a 40 things to do before I’m 40 bucket list… No, I’m still FAR from 40, well a measly 5 1/2 years away (so pretty close at the same time!) and on that list I have one of my goals:
Visit 40 countries before I turn 40 (States/Provinces/Cities ‘of interest’)
And so far, I have 23/40 visited. My upcoming trip to Southeast Asia will add another FOUR places of interest to my ever growing list as I will be going to:
- I forgot to add, that I’m also counting my STOPOVER in Hong Kong.. LoL! Won’t even get out of the airport - but it still counts.. :D
- Bangkok, Thailand
- Siem Reap, Cambodia
- Phuket, Thailand
Yes, I’ve counted Bangkok and Phuket separately because it’s my list, my rules - make your own! :D
It’s quite cool coz one of my male students has been doing the countdown for me - this morning in karakia he goes ‘Two days to go?’ and I replied ‘Kāore, it’s apōpo I go’.. it’s cool coz he’s like really excited! I might give them my BLOG address to see if they want to read along when I make an entry - I’ll let Stella know to let them know when I’ve posted one on pukamata (FB).
So, I went to town today to get some BAHT - I was actually thinking about getting it done tomorrow then I thought - hmmmm, kāo get some today when I can instead of last minute Sandy over here! So, I went to kiwi bank and got my trusty ‘Loaded for Travel’ card loaded with baht. I’ll get some Cambodian pūtea later, maybe IN Cambodia - LOL!
Tomorrow, we have a class ‘Working in the Māori Space’ and I’m going to be presenting the presentation that I will be giving in Thailand - I’ve titled it ‘Mai i te Pō ki te Āo Marama - From Darkness to light - Māori leadership models in contemporary Āotearoa’ - and I’m going to give it a go with my students apōpo - I’m SOOO nervous - I’m gonna ask for feedback and nervous what they might FEED BACK.. LoL!! Oh well.. karma’s a monkey!
Co-workers today were like ‘Get your luggage bubble wrapped’, ‘Be careful what taxi you get in’, ‘Don’t go home with strangers’… It’s niced to be cared for - I’ll definitely NOT go home with a stranger - LoL!
Ok, MAN - gotta get some snoring medication - HAHAHA!! My poor future roomie and coz I’m gonna be TIRED as from the travels - aw man SNORING SUCKS!!!! (don’t tell my future husband until it’s too late - HAHA!) Well on the nervous scale - I’m ok, just travel wise and don’t make dumb decisions… Look like the BOSS I am and no one will step to this..
All in all, the world is beautiful and I’m so glad I have this bucket-list, it moves people into action. I am actually making plans and seeing them be accomplished. YAY!!
I am grateful and blessed.
SAWADEEKA!
