Komene’s Leave Us Once Again

Kia Ora World,

This is myself and Kaea Komene - he’s so cute!

So, it’s Friday 24th January 2014 and what a 24-days!!
Over Christmas - Location:  Paraparaumu
                            No. of people:  24
                            Result:  AWESOME-NESS!!!

Over New Years - Location:  Masterton
                            No. of people:  23
                            Result:  More awesome-ness!!!

On the Monday 13th January the Komene’s came over all the way from Brisbane for 2 weeks of GLORIOUS NEW ZEALAND food, family, fun and weather - the weather let us down this Summer though… agreed?  YUP!!
Visit from Komenes - Location:  Masterton
No. of People: 14 (Cornwall Street) 6 (Fleet Street)
                              Result:  BUSY and AWESOME!

We have busked all over the Kapiti Coast, Wellington City and Masterton and had a lot of fun spending the $$$$, putting some away for bills and the rest to have fun with… including movies x2 with snacks, swimming pools, 4hrs of LASER FORCE - by far the BEST money spent with both adults and children shooting each other in the dark or playing arcade games while waiting for the next round… Definitely how memories are made…

And now, we’re on the eve of 2 events… 1. The Kura Kaupapa kids return to school on Monday… AND 2. Komene’s return to Australia I have only a few things to say…

Family is the most important unit of support, strength and REFINING of characters and personalities of those who are in them… Luckily we have eternity to be able to enjoy each other and their children and the way we clash, the way we love, the way we sing, eat and play together… I LOVE MY WHĀNAU..  We have our disagreements and fights - doesn’t every whānau (seriously??).

Second, I need a JOB.. like YESTERDAY.. I’m going to USA soon and need a job… you might consider this unrelated to my post… however, it’s important to me, it’s on top and I am NOT going to America with no $$$$ for spending.. LoL..

Next, in no way am I being BIAS BUT, my nieces and nephews are by far the CUTEST in the whole wide world…!!!
Mum and most of her moko’s (15 of the 22) at Pirinoa

I mean look at them.. even though they were tired, and hōha they were ready for a picture with their Nana (wish Dad could see this).  It’s awesome to be an Aunty of so many different flowers in my Mum and Dad’s garden…

Did I mention I need a job! I’ll be graduating in May with my Masters of Education and cannot find a job in Masterton.  HELP!

Well, I need to broaden my horizons then with the job hunting area and sort it out!

Ok… 9 weeks to go until we’re on our way to USA - time to get SERIOUS with job hunting.. I think I’m gonna just go for anything that’ll give me some money to buuuuurrrrrn…

Keep in it to win it…

The End is Here :D

Kia Ora World!

My name is Una Elizabeth Pania Matthews.
The picture (inserted) is of my bound and OFFICIAL Masters Thesis - hence the blog name Master Dorty.  I will graduate in May 2014 at Victoria University of Wellington and will be the first in my family (see photo below of my family as kids - I’m in the front row middle - also missing the second oldest brother Iwingaro Matthews who died when he was 8) to have completed a postgraduate degree.

I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Busan, South Korea mission from 2008-2010 (photo’s below outside Provo Temple, Salt Lake).  And upon returning home began my Masters in Education.
(Photo below:  Busan, South Korea with Sister missionaries)

So, here I am now.. having completed my mission to Busan, South Korea AND having completed my Masters of Education Thesis WITH B+ (Graduating with MERIT)..

I am a 33year old, single, Māori woman and living it up.  I am the ward Young Women President and have also committed (in front of them) to have at least 5 dates this year because last year consisted of….. you guessed it…. ZERO..! :)

The reason for me starting this blog is a couple of reasons:
1.  So you can join me on another NEW BEGINNING and end of an ERA
2.  Join my preparation for mine and Mums big OE to USA (Mum and I at my 30th ‘Masquerade’ bday party)

3.  Join me on our trip to USA and follow along

Also, just giving my perspective of the WORLD…

So, signing off with my quote for the New Year..
“Be in LOVE with your life.  Every minute of it”
